History

Wierer Holding plc – our history

In 1970 the brothers Franz, Wilfried and Josef Wierer lay the foundation of what would become the Wierer Holding, with the establishment of the Camini Wierer plc in Verona (Italy– a company specializing in the manufacture of chimneys and flues.

Further turning points towards the development of the Wierer Holding:

  • The establishment of the building materials manufacturing company Baumex Ltd in 1975
  • The merger of Baumex Ltd with Zingerle Ltd in 1999
  • The renaming of the new company as Bauexpert Ltd.

In 1991 the group takes over Rabensteiner Ltd, specialising in the manufacture of greenhouses.

In 2005 the group furthers its expansion into the greenhouse market taking over Germany’s leading company Gabler Deutschland, later incorporated into the Rabensteiner Ltd.

Only a year later the group acquires the shares of Thermo-System Industrie- & Trocknungstechnik Ltd, a German company specialised in sludge drying technologies.

In 2011 the umbrella organisation Wierer Holding plc is formally established. In 2015, Camini Wierer was spun off from the holding structure and became the property of the Josef Wierer family.

Thermo-System Industrie- & Trocknungstechnik Ltd, Esslingen (Germany)

Thermo-System specialises in sewage sludge drying and utilisation and has designed and installed over 200 drying plants worldwide.
The 2017 amendments to the European sewage sludge regulation stipulate that, after a transitional period, sewage sludge must no longer be used for agricultural purposes. Dried sludge is therefore an important step towards an eco-friendly future: Its significantly reduced volume saves countless truck journeys and transportation kilometres, while keeping C02 emissions at a minimum.
Thanks to the company's many years of experience and a long track record of in-house drying tests and research, all Thermo-System plants can be adapted to the most individual customer requirements. Its innovative, low-maintenance and durable technology is just one pillar of Thermo-System's success.
